Tour a live broadcast burn site with USDA Forest Service Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest leaders and partners!

Join the local USDA Forest Service’s leaders and local partners on a "live prescribed fire" site visit of a prescribed burn (broadcast burn) planned to be implemented by firefighters from the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests as early as April 23rd.

This prescribed burn is part of the overall strategy on the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests to address the Wildfire Crisis. Numerous forest restoration projects have been completed in this area to prepare for prescribed fire, which is an important step in protecting communities, watersheds, and forests from high intensity and high severity wildfires. This project is a continuation of burning that took place over the past few years, most recently in fall 2023 when 755 acres were successfully burned.

Come learn from local Forest Service fire managers about how they design a prescribed burn, what weather conditions are required for prescribed burning operations, what the objectives of project include, and what it means to live in a fire-adapted ecosystem.

NOTE: There will be active fire on this tour and potential light smoke exposure. Safety precautions will be taken to minimize risk and smoke exposure, but cannot be eliminated.
